August Movie Roundup: Most Likely
It’s that time of the month again! The time of the month when I let you, my friends, know what I watched the previous month. Rapid fire! Totally Killer (2023): Most likely the movie I don’t remember anything about, but apparently rated it 6.7/10. Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight (1995): Most likely to have one of… Continue reading

The Nutty Professor (1963)
Runtime: 1 hr 47 min Starring: Jerry Lewis, Stella Stevens, and Del Moore Director: Jerry Lewis I thought I knew things. I thought I knew that Jerry Lewis was only capable of portraying goofy, bumbling characters. Never mind that I think I’ve only ever seen him in one other movie before watching this one. Never… Continue reading

The Two Faces of Dr. Jekyll (1960)
Runtime: 1 hr 28 min Starring: Paul Massie, Dawn Addams, and Christopher Lee Director: Terence Fisher Friends! We finally stepped out of the silver screen and into Technicolor! My eyes were starved for what Technicolor could provide me, given that I watched quite a few movies in black and white since I started this journey.… Continue reading

Daughter of Dr. Jekyll (1957)
Starring: Janet Smith, George Hastings, and Arthur Shields Runtime: 1 hr 11 mins Director: Edgar G. Ulmer I feel like I’m about to half-ass this. Friends, I zoned out while trying to watch this. This time around, Dr. Jekyll had a daughter. I say “had” because there is technically no Dr. Jekyll in this movie.… Continue reading

Abbott and Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1953)
Starring: Bud Abbott, Lou Costello, and Boris Karloff Director: Charles Lamont Runtime: 1 hr 16 min We have found another comedic adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s story! Now, while the previous comedic film (Dr. Pyckle and Mr. Pryde) made me giggle, this film actually made me guffaw. Like, serious, loud, and obnoxious laughter. Apparently, Lou… Continue reading

The Son of Dr. Jekyll (1951)
Starring: Louis Hayward, Jody Lawrance, Alexander Knox, and Lester Matthews (as my guy Utterson) Runtime: 1 hr 18 mins I don’t know what to say about this film! Alright, so, apparently we are now operating on the idea that Dr. Jekyll didn’t die at the end of his story. No, he went on to have… Continue reading

Night of My Favorite Horror Movie
My adventures in horror movies, as you may have read previously, started with Freddy Krueger. As much as I loved that franchise growing up and as much as I adore Robert Englund, most people are surprised to find out that no film in that series has taken the crown as my favorite horror movie. Now,… Continue reading

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1913)
So, as it turns out, I had to go backward because I came across another silent adaptation starring our good friend(s?) Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Just shy of 30 minutes long, nothing deviates too far from what we’ve already seen in our Jekyll & Hyde movies. Like the previous version I watched (and loathed),… Continue reading
