Buy More Books (Part 4)
I didn’t forget to share more of my favorite places to purchase books! Look, here I am! If you are okay with mostly used books, though you can also buy new ones at Thriftbooks, this is the place for you. If you love mass-market paperbacks, this may be useful, too. For the most part, I… Continue reading

The Jekyll and Hyde Portfolio (1971)
Runtime: 1 hr 21 min Starring: Sebastian Brook, Mady Maguire, and Donn Greer Director: Eric Jeffrey Haims I think it’s safe to say that slasher sexploitation films may not be for me? At least, this one was decidedly not for me! Look, friends, I don’t know what the plot actually was. What I do know… Continue reading

3rd Quarter Reading Wrap-Up
I was going to wait until October to go over my top reads for July-September, but this month has been a very slow reading month, and I can’t imagine I’ll fit another 5-star read in before the month ends. Which is fine. Okay, it’s actually a little upsetting, but it’s also fine because I have… Continue reading

Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde (1971)
Runtime: 1 hr 34 mins Starring: Ralph Bates, Martine Beswick, and Gerald Sim Director: Roy Ward Baker I would say this is Jekyll and Hyde adjacent, too. It shares Dr. Henry Jekyll’s character with the original material, as well as our doctor experimenting with things better left alone. There is also plenty of murder in… Continue reading

Trope Troubles Part 2
Hey, come closer. I have a secret. A BIG SECRET! It’s a secret, so you can’t tell anyone. If you tell, there will be consequences. It’ll mostly just be me being sad, but those are some heavy consequences because you wouldn’t like me when I’m sad. It’s a lot of ugly crying. Are you ready… Continue reading

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1968)
Runtime: 2 hr Starring: Jack Palance, Denholm Elliott, and Leo Genn Director: Charles Jarrott I watched this on a Monday night. When I say I watched this on a Monday night, I mean I fell asleep at some point and woke up with a heavy sigh of frustration. When I woke up, I immediately went… Continue reading

The Two Faces of Dr. Jekyll (1960)
Runtime: 1 hr 28 min Starring: Paul Massie, Dawn Addams, and Christopher Lee Director: Terence Fisher Friends! We finally stepped out of the silver screen and into Technicolor! My eyes were starved for what Technicolor could provide me, given that I watched quite a few movies in black and white since I started this journey.… Continue reading

Trope Troubles
When it comes to reading (and I do a lot of it), not all tropes are built the same. At least, not for me! There are tropes that I eat up every single time. Seriously, if a trope I love is mentioned in the synopsis – and even if it’s in a story I wouldn’t… Continue reading

The Son of Dr. Jekyll (1951)
Starring: Louis Hayward, Jody Lawrance, Alexander Knox, and Lester Matthews (as my guy Utterson) Runtime: 1 hr 18 mins I don’t know what to say about this film! Alright, so, apparently we are now operating on the idea that Dr. Jekyll didn’t die at the end of his story. No, he went on to have… Continue reading
